Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a syndrome due to a hormonal imbalance that hinders the release and full development of eggs by the ovaries, which take on the appearance of a “pearl necklace”. It is accompanied by amenorrhea (absence of the menstrual cycle), irregular menstrual periods, acne, and hirsutism. Dark marks often appear on the skin, around the armpits, groin, and knuckles of the fingers.
